The Tipping Point: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

I made it my mission to avoid anything related to A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas soon after its release because I saw spoilers about Feyre’s new romance with Rhysand. It seemed silly to me that Feyre would have a new romance after all the obstacles she had to overcome to be with Tamlin in A Court of Thorns and Roses. I thought Maas had created a love triangle just for the sake of keeping Tamlin and Feyre apart for a longer time. I thought she was trying to milk the series. I strongly dislike love triangles, so I convinced myself that I was satisfied with the ending of the first book and saw no need to read the sequel.

But, today I failed my mission. I came across this review of the sequel  in which the reviewer, Angie, touches upon Tamlin’s abusive behavior towards Feyre. Angie mentions how many readers failed to acknowledge the unhealthy relationship in A Court of Thorns and Roses because they were so enraptured by Tamlin along with Feyre.

I realized that I was one of those readers. I dismissed the way Tamlin talked to and ordered Feyre around because she seemed fine when it was all said and done. Now all my happy memories of Feyre and Tamlin are tainted with this new awareness.

I’m going to pick up A Court of Mist and Fury after half a year of trying to disregard the hype surrounding the book. I want to read about Feyre in a happy, healthy relationship. And, I’ll admit, I also want to see what all this hullabaloo about Rhysand is about.

  1. Hi Belle! You have no idea how excited I am after reading this! I’m so glad that you decided to pick up ACOMAF — especially after reading my review! I also skipped over Tamlin’s ways back when I first read ACOTAR. I am not a huge fan of love triangles but I think you’ll be surprised with this one because it’s not exactly a love triangle. Can’t really say much else without spoiling haha I can’t wait to read see what you thought of it. I would also like to welcome you to the book blogging community!
