5 Characters I Would Invite to my New Year’s Eve Party

Let me just put this out there: my hypothetical New Year’s Eve party would ideally be the mellowest get together ever. Picture people playing board games on a living room floor, the Times Square ball drop broadcasting on the TV. (So, basically what I do every year except with people ten times cooler than me.) But as I chose the characters I would invite to the party, I realized that there was no way that it could be mellow. Here are five seven characters I would invite to my New Year’s Eve party:

Kelsier and Elend Venture from the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson

I grouped Kelsier and Elend Venture together because I want to see the pair really get to know one another. A hopeful part of me thought that there would be some type of miracle in the last two books where they would do just that. Those who read the series know how naive I was.

Oliver from Dreamology by Lucy Keating

I found all of the characters from Dreamology super amusing, but Oliver takes the cake. I can imagine him making hilariously inappropriate comments while Kelsier and Elend are trying to have a heart to heart.

Tom and Vik from the Insignia series by S.J. Kincaid

Tom and Vik’s friendship reminds me a lot of Troy and Abed’s friendship from Community. They’re always messing around and people don’t get them, but it’s okay because they get each other. It would be fun seeing what kind of shenanigans they could pull at my hypothetical New Year’s Eve party.

Young Queen Levana from The Fairest by Marissa Meyer

I really empathized with the young Queen Levana in The Fairest. Her family seriously failed in being her support system, and I truly believe that she would not have turned out to be a villain if she had had one. She could totally party with us and be my friend.

Iko from The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer

I loved Iko’s cheerfulness and bubbly personality in The Lunar Chronicles series. It would be entertaining to see her completely freak out at a party with all the characters I mentioned above.

What do you think of my picks? Which fictional characters would you invite to your New Year’s party?
