R.I.P. my three week break from school.
I’ve already gone through the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Tomorrow, I have to re-immerse myself into society and trick people into thinking I’m a functional student. I enjoyed my break, but I didn’t do nearly as much work as I usually do during the school year. I have to switch gears, focus on school, and re-motivate myself to get work done.
I shared what I do when I feel unmotivated on Tumblr, but I thought I would transfer it as a blog post (and slightly modify it) to help any of you who need it. Here’s to two more months of school until I can finally go home (and cry) 🥂:
Tidy Up
Clean your living quarters and declutter your work space.
Take a Shower or Bath
Wash your body and clear your mind.
Step Outside
Breathe some fresh air and appreciate nature. Maybe even go for a walk.
Try Meditating
Even if it’s just for five minutes. There are a lot of great guided meditations on Youtube [x] [x] [x] if you’ve never meditated before.
Drink Water
Hydrate yourself. People are always yelling about it, but for a good reason; Apparently, even mild dehydration can alter mood.
Talk to Someone
It can be a good friend, a family member, or even a stranger. Just socialize a bit.
Music
Listen to your favorite song or album to pump yourself up.
Make a List
It doesn’t have to just be things you need to get done. It can be your favorite things or stuff you want to do before you die. I personally find making lists relieving, and they inspire me to work harder.
Set a Schedule
This is a new thing I’ve started to do. I’m usually a go-with-the-flow type of person, but assigning attainable tasks to specific days and being able to see it on a monthly scale has allowed me properly manage my time. I use Plan and Google Calendar to schedule my responsibilities.
Work in a New Place
Go to a library, a coffee shop, or even a park.
Exercise/Stretch
It will ease any tension in your body and make you feel less stressed.
Do Something You Enjoy
Give yourself a bit of a break and try to study later knowing you were able to do something you like.
My favorite thing to do out of this list is shower. Believe it or not, a warm-to-hot shower really does help relax your muscles and block the noise out (even for a good 20-30 mins).

Great tips! I think decluttering is really important to do, especially if you’re a student like me. Once you’ve decluttered, you have more time to do other important things rather than cleaning. I wrote a blog post about what to declutter as a student if you’re interested. Thanks!

Right? I find it annoying to do work when my room is untidy because there’s a constant nagging voice in my head telling me to clean my mess.
I can always use more decluttering tips 🙂.
